The challenge
Austria is a beautiful country, except for the possibility to grow vegetables. The compost used is too expensive and not durable. Composting is an important and useful process - both on the macro scale (eg. scale of the city) and on the micro scale (eg on a small garden plot). In both cases, you get a valuable natural product, which is compost - an excellent organic fertilizer. The composting plant of such a large city is a complex installation that allows the collection and processing of mass of all-season bio-waste on a large scale. These can be tree branches, leaves, shrub fragments, grass and weeds, but also organic waste from food and food processing outlets, obtained from private entities and public institutions.
The solution
The biomass collected is subjected to fermentation and controlled decomposition. It does not have to be run outdoors, but in enclosed halls, also known as bioreactors, which - apart from many different benefits - also allows you to avoid odors, i.e. unpleasant odors resulting from the bio-waste utilization process. In other cases, composting on a mass scale could be very inconvenient for local residents.
